Another slippery term, culture can be defined as:

a way of life, especially as it relates to the socially transmitted habits, customs, traditions, and beliefs that characterize a particular group of people at a particular time. It includes the behaviors, actions, practices, attitudes, norms and values, communications (language), patterns, traits, etiquette, spirituality, concepts of health and healing, superstitions, and institutions of a racial, ethnic, religious, or social group. It is the lens through which we look at the world (Edwards, Ellis, Ko, Saifer, & Stuczynski, in press, p. 11).

Memories, Not So Fond

Do you recall the morning of
September 11, 2001?

No matter what you were doing on that fateful morning, you can never look back fondly.  

My son was nine and we had been in Buffalo the night before to see our broker regarding our new home there. This morning we  left the motel in Batavia near eight had our breakfast and were on the road when we the news of what had befallen us and I was the city.

Being new to the route from Buffalo into the city the plan was then for us to drive by tunnel to Manhattan cross 34 street and take the expressway into Queens. Some time near 9 PM we found ourselves denied that access as the roads were closed and we had to detour  up to the Bronx and cross the Whitestone Bridge instead so it was  

after 10:30 before I could find a place to park.

Down through the years I have faced many disappointments, none so deep as knowing that not one of our elected leaders has raised his voice in protest at the foul determinations that has left this legacy to our progeny.

There is no excuse for them and they are all complicit with the doers of the deed. The question still remains how have they been paid for their silence. 

The Body of Evidence stands for ever in witness of the culprits and criminals in whose protection we have been silenced. I choose to raise my voice in protest. We need to know and call to account the  

doers of the deed.

At whose door do we park the blame?

I do not believe any thing to be more precious to those of us with sight than that awesome gift.  In this same context I can say with no fear of contradiction that Dr Melissa Neal sets the bar above any health care provider I  have known, and I have known more than a few.


The fact that I knew that the Laser creating the pinhole in my eye to relieve the pressure there was in her very capable hands caused me absolutely no pause knowing that equipment was new and fist time in her hands.  Her attention to mine and my wife's eyes and details is unmatched.
